چکیده
Abstract Wadi Mawathil area is characterized by the existence of carbonates, represented “Egyptian Alabaster” (calcite alabaster) and “Bucchino” (recrystallized limestone). One most important geological heritage in Egypt Egyptian Alabaster quarries. The considered main economic resource study recrystallized limestone occasionally can be quarried. Field revealed that covered Middle Eocene rocks “Sannur Formation” surrounded quaternary sediments; it exhibits karst features. Detailed field structure studies on show NW–SE NE–SW structural trends. fault trends are mainly striking from N25° to 55° W dip toward NE, SW, SSW. These intersections form channels for groundwater dissolves limestone. Petrographically, these limestones three microfacies types, namely foraminiferal biomicrite, sandy biosparite, alabaster facies. Foraminiferal biomicrite biosparite reflect quite an open marine shallow subtidal depositional environment, while facies was precipitated hydrothermal groundwaters within fractures, cavities, or system. X–ray fluorescence analysis shows increase content some trace elements such as I, Cr, Th, W, Ag, U, Ni, Zn, Pb, Ga, they also high concentrations REE Sc, Ce, La. major oxides CaO with average 55.47% indicating calcite a mineral component karstified rocks. geological, structural, geochemical carried out area, indicated were formed two stages: first one dissolving thermal waters heavy meteoric water during rainy periods Pleistocene age. second stage re-precipitation “alabaster” and/or “recrystallized limestone” calcium carbonate saturated percolated through fractures fissures

The Wadi Hodein area contains a wide variety of late Precambrian igneous and metamorphic rocks, represented by gneisses, serpentinites, metagabbros, metasediments, metavolcanics, metagabbro-diorite, granodiorite and granitoids. The Wadi Hodein metavolcanics (WHV), including G. Khashab and G. El Anbat, represent one of the significant metavolcanic suites in the southern part of the Nubian Shield...

Utilization of the digital Landsat TM bands for automatic lineaments extraction and selection of the optimum bands are the main objects of this article. The classical method for lineament extraction was manually performed through aerial photographs and satellite imagery. Nowadays several commercial softwares are developed to deal with the automatic linear features extraction using the optical a...
متن کاملPetrogenesis of the Wadi Dib alkaline ring complex, Eastern Desert of Egypt
The Wadi Dib magmatic complex is the oldest known alkaline ring complex in the Egyptian part of the Pan-African orogenic belt. Rb-Sr isotope data for seven samples suggest a Vendian age of 578=k16 Ma, and a 87Sr/S6Sr initial ratio of 0.7048±0.0010. The igneous complex has a diameter of 2 km and was emplaced within granodioritic Pan-African host rocks at the intersection of two faults. It shows ...
متن کاملVanishing Knowledge of Plant Species in the Wadi Allaqi Desert Area of Egypt
The distribution and abundance of plant species are strongly linked to the physical environmental and thus to anthropogenic disturbances. Changes in desert vegetation, in particular, can have drastic impacts on human livelihoods in these areas as ecosystem services may be affected (Dubroeucq and Livenais 2004; Klintenberg et al. 2007; Käyhkö et al. 2011; Rohde and Hoffman 2012). The Wadi Allaqi...

-The Fawakhir ophiolitic sequence is composed mainly of serpentinites, metagabbros, boninitic metagabbros and metavolcanics. The serpentinites have geochemical features similar to those of depleted-mantle peridotites. Major and trace element characteristics show that the ophiolitic metagabbro and metavolcanic rocks are of tholeiitic to calc-alkaline affinity. REE abundances in the metagabbros a...
